University United Methodist Church, located in downtown Austin, is seeking a part-time (20 to 30hrs per week) Family Ministry Assistant. The qualified candidate will have previous experience working with children and/or youth, the ability to communicate with parents, and have a love for spiritual formation in the lives of children and youth. The Family Ministry Assistant will primarily be responsible for helping with programming, prepping and implementing weekly activities for children and their families including but not limited to: Godly Play Curriculum, Parent’s Night Out, Vacation Church Camp, Sunday School, Church Camping Trip, Easter Festival, Methodist Youth Fellowship, retreats, and more. The Family Ministry Assistant will have the support and collaboration of the Associate Pastor for Family Ministries. Candidates should be a team player first and foremost, have a passion for working with children and youth, have excellent written and verbal skills, problem solving skills, computer skills and demonstrate an ability to plan and implement programs. Previous church experience is preferred. The main goal for the Family Ministry Assistant is to build relationships with children, youth and their families, develop a team of volunteers and to empower and support parents on the journey. UUMC is a progressive Methodist church with a passion for social justice. We worship approximately 350 on Sunday morning and attract a wide-range of people from all over Austin and the surrounding community.
