Director of Student Ministry
FUMC Boerne is a fast-growing church located 30 miles north of San Antonio, Texas that prioritizes raising up bold and Godly young leaders.
We are currently seeking an experienced, spirit-led individual who has the commitment, passion, and vision to create and lead student mission and ministry programs. We envision the ideal candidate having a balance of education, experience, spiritual gifts, and passion for developing students for discipleship during their time in the youth program and continuing after graduation.

POSITION SUMMARY
This person must have a Christ-centered value system and feel a confident call to Student Ministry. It will be an expectation for this person to articulate this to students, their parents, and church staff.
In collaboration with the members, clergy and church staff, the Director of Student Ministry will be expected to identify, nurture, and inspire the needs of both students (grades 6-12) and their parents.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Plan youth worship experiences weekly, teaching and modeling behavior in worship.
2. Build relationships with youth and their parents. Maintain close parental contact to maintain and foster mutual communication and trust.
3. Support and energize all existing student small groups and their leaders to identify and implement means for growth.
4. Organize and attend mission opportunities, summer camps, and events for students and their families.
5. Recruit & provide adult supervision and transportation for all student activities in compliance with the policies of the Rio Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church.
6. Recruit, coordinate and develop student leaders.
7. Visit students in their schools, jobs, and support/attend their extracurricular activities.
8. Attend training/continuing education to strengthen job knowledge and skills.
9. Participate in weekly staff meetings and other committees as requested.
10. Fulfill any other duties as assigned by the Sr. Pastor.
EDUCATION
Minimum of an Undergraduate degree required. CPR certification preferred.
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS
· Minimum of 3 years of experience in a medium-size church (500+ members) as Director of Student Ministry.
· Must be firmly grounded in United Methodist theology and knowledge of biblical scripture.
· Must be a dedicated Christian leader, above reproach, maintaining a good reputation with students, parents, congregation, and community.
· Must have a heart and mind centered on God and be holistic (body, mind, spirit) in approaching God’s call and methods of making disciples of Jesus Christ.
· Must have good relational skills, organizational skills, and facilitation skills.
· Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously - prioritize and delegate as needed.
· Team player within the student program, parents, and staff.
· Proficient in computer skills - including but not limited to Microsoft office, spreadsheets, databases, graphics, pro presenter, etc.
· Ability to transport students (by car or bus) while maintaining a good driving record.
· Required to pass a Safe Gatherings Training & Con Confianza background check.
· Provide oversight of the finances of the student program through budget planning and observance of church policies.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
· Must be able to communicate verbally by phone, Zoom, Skype or similar technology, in written format, and in person.
· Must have the ability to stand, sit, and walk for prolonged periods of time.
· Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds.
SALARY AND COMPENSATION
This is a salaried, minimum 40-hour a week position. There will be some weeks when more than 40 hours are required. Compensation will be as follows:
· Salary based upon experience.
· Employee insurance commensurate with FUMC Boerne Employee Policy Manual
· Paid vacation, personal/sick days, and holidays as outlined in the FUMC Boerne Employee Policy Manual.
