Associate Director of Children's Ministries
Alamo Heights UMC is looking for an Associate Director of Children’s Ministries. This position is 32 hours per week and will assist the Director of CM with Sunday morning programming, leading children’s worship, special events, social media, coordination of childcare staff, and other duties necessary to meet the needs of children and their families.
JOB SUMMARY
Assists the Director of CM with Sunday morning programming, special events and
other aspects of Children’s Ministry (nursery through 5th grade) as needed. This
position will also coordinate and supervise childcare staff.
JOB DUTIES
¨ Actively demonstrate and disciple others in following the examples of Jesus, embracing the theology of the United Methodist Church and living out the core values of Alamo Heights United Methodist Church (AHUMC).
¨ Prepare Sunday School lessons using approved curriculum that aligns with AHUMC theology for Sunday morning children’s classes.
¨ Post weekly Sunday School lessons for SS Leaders on Sharepoint.
¨ Warmly welcomes and greets children and families as they arrive for Sunday school and church events.
¨ Invites new families to connect with the church.
¨ Lead children’s large group worship on Sunday mornings.
¨ Assist with the development, planning, communication and participation in all CM activities, including but not limited to VBS, Family Movie Nights, Harvest Festival, Wacky Wednesdays, 3rd Grade Bibles, 5th Grade Blessing, Parents’ Day Out, Food for Fall, Kids Connect, etc.
¨ Supervise, recruit and train childcare staff needed for Sunday mornings and weekday childcare.
¨ Responsible for submitting payroll hours and maintaining accurate information
for the childcare staff.
¨ Manages the scheduling of childcare reservations and and the scheduling of
childcare staff.
¨ Assist with all aspects of preparation needed for VBS, including leader books.
¨ Assist with managing and maintaining children’s check in system.
¨ Work with Communication Director and Director of CM to assist with marketing
and communication for Children’s Ministry including but not limited to
maintaining Children’s Ministry area of website, social media, weekly takehome
papers, parent newsletters, etc.
¨ Attend weekly staff teachings.
¨ Attend weekly department meetings for the Children’s Ministry.
¨ Support volunteers on Sunday mornings.
¨ Other job duties as assigned.
SKILLS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
¨ Bachelor’s Degree in Education preferred (early childhood and/or Christian education a plus)
¨ Knowledge and experience in working with children and volunteers.
¨ Minimum 2 years experience with supervising others (preferred).
¨ Computer skills (Office 365 or similar) – Adobe, Photoshop a plus.
¨ Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.

¨ This is a 32 hour position with benefits package.
¨ Working Sunday mornings + special events (often on weekends) is required.
