First United Methodist Church of Marble Falls is looking to hire a Director of Music Ministry.

Job Summary and Purpose: The Director of Music Ministries is a vital element in the church's ministry, and he/she shall cooperate with the Senior Pastor and the Worship Committee in making music an integral part of the worship services while demonstrating a Christian commitment to the church and to ministry.

Accountable to: Senior Pastor

Education, Qualifications, and Skills:

- Strong commitment to Jesus Christ

- Undergraduate degree in music and/or minimum 3 years leadership in church music.

- Music proficiency in organ/piano, voice, instrumental music and conducting

- Good communication (verbal, written, & listening) skills

- Flexibility to assess and implement new and innovative methods and programs to enhance the musical ministry and worship of the church

- Effective planning and organizational skills

- Excellent people skills and ability to work as a team player with children, youth, & adults

- Familiarity with Methodist Liturgy

- Fulfill the requirements associated with a background check and Safe Gathering course

Responsibilities and Duties:

- Overall accountability for the music ministry of the church

- Hire and supervise paid accompanists

- Train choirs and ensembles in choral and instrumental techniques, appreciation of sacred music and leadership and participation in worship

- Staff liaison for Worship Committee.

- Organize and supervise recruitment of volunteer members into the music program

- Select and purchase music, worship and music resources, services of outside instrumentalists, musical instruments and equipment

- Schedule and rehearse soloists and summer music

- Develop seasonal musical programs, children and youth musicals and extended musical works

- Oversee appropriate music for special services, funerals and weddings

- Organize and maintain music library of the church

- Develop a yearly calendar and budget for the Music Ministry

- Supervise the maintenance of musical instruments

- Participate with other professional organizations to gain new ideas and to share expertise in music.
