The Youth Minister is a full-time position at North Shore UMC charged with creating an overall student program that is glorifying to God and leads young people into a life-long relationship with Jesus Christ. We at North Shore have as our vision an emphasis on children, youth and young adults. We are looking for someone who is creative and willing to work with as a team with our ministry staff and church. The Youth Minister will assume responsibility for oversight and administration of ministries involving those between the sixth and twelfth grades and will work with a Parent Youth Council and be accessible to those under the age of 25.
Qualifications for the position will include: a strong evidence of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, an understanding of Christian discipleship, successful experience within youth ministry, a gift for leadership, an ability for creative program development and a heart of service for to youth and to others. A bachelors degree is preferred, an understanding of Wesleyan theology, church organization and resources. The applicant would be knowledgeable or would be willing to take a basic training course in Safe Sanctuaries. He or she must be a person of faith, embodying and modeling for students a Christian lifestyle of high moral and ethical standards and integrity. The Youth Minister would be willing to become a member of North Shore UMC and live in close proximity to our community.
