ADMINISTRATIVE TEAMS           

Uniting Table (Refer Standing Rules page 349 English; 357 Spanish) There shall be a Uniting Table whose function is to coordinate mission and ministry in the Río Texas Conference through the four Vision Teams focused on the four pillars of the conference Vision: Uniting Peoples, Vitalizing Congregations, Developing Leaders, and Transforming Communities. The Uniting Table and the four Vision Teams are responsible for focusing on the Mission Field.

There shall be a Committee on Standing Rules whose function is to oversee the rules of the Annual Conference, as permitted in ¶ 604.1 of the 2016 Book of Discipline (pg. 413)

Function – The annual conference, for its own government, may adopt rules and regulations not in conflict with the Discipline of The United Methodist Church, provided that in exercise of its powers, each annual conference shall act in all respects in harmony with the policy of The United Methodist Church with respect to elimination of discrimination.

There shall be a Committee on Nominations (the committee) whose function is to identify nominees for each elected leadership position for which the Book of Discipline does not specify another method of nomination.

Finance Table (Standing Rules page 352-353 English; 360- 361 Spanish)

There shall be a Finance Table whose function is defined in ¶¶ 611-628 of the 2016 Book of Discipline (pg. 424 and following) and which will fulfill 2019 Rio Texas Conference Journal 353 Standing Rules all references in the Book of Discipline to the Council on Finance and Administration. The Finance Table will also fulfill all references in the Book of Discipline to the Commission on Equitable Compensation, whose function is defined in ¶ 625 of the 2016 Book of Discipline. The Finance Table relates to the General Council on Finance and Administration.

Function –The Board of Trustees is the legal representative of the annual conference.  Their task is to oversee all properties of the conference: to intervene and take all necessary legal steps to safeguard and protect the interests and rights of the annual conference in all matters relating to property and rights to property whether arising by gift, devise, or otherwise, or where held in trust or established for the benefit of the annual conference or its membership. In cooperation with the Finance Table, related annual conference agencies and institutions, and local churches, to make recommendations to the annual conference regarding the development, promotion, and review of a broad general program of insurance protection.

Función: la Junta de Síndicos es la representante legal de la conferencia anual. Board of Pensions (Standing Rules page 353 English; 361 Spanish)

There shall be a Board of Pensions whose function is defined in ¶ 639 of the 2016 Book of Discipline (pg. 481) The members of the Board of Pensions are also members of the Board of Directors of the United Methodist Río Texas Conference Board of Pensions Corporation, and their election shall be consistent with the Certificate of Formation and the Bylaws of that corporation. The Board of Pensions relates to the General Board of Pensions and Health Benefits.

Function –The Board of Pensions shall have charge of the interests and work of providing for and contributing to the support, relief, assistance, and pensioning of clergy and their families, other church workers, and lay employees of the institutions, organizations, and agencies within that annual conference of The United Methodist Church, except as otherwise provided by the general board.

Función: la Junta de Pensiones tendrá a su cargo los intereses y el trabajo de proveer y contribuir al apoyo, alivio, asistencia y pensiones del clero y sus familias, otros trabajadores de la iglesia y empleados laicos de las instituciones, organizaciones y agencias dentro de esa conferencia anual de la Iglesia Metodista Unida, excepto que la junta general disponga lo contrario.

VISION TEAMS                   

Uniting People’s Vision Team (Standing Rules page 349 English; 357 Spanish)

There shall be a Uniting Peoples Vision Team whose function is to facilitate unity, witness, communication and justice, and to work toward intercultural competency in all areas of conference life which includes the following - Christian Unity and Interreligious Relationships, is Religion and Race, the Status and Role of Women, Communications, Disability Concerns, and a chairperson; all nominated by the Committee on Nominations and elected by the Annual Conference.

Habrá un Equipo de Visión de Uniendo Pueblos cuya función es facilitar la unidad, el testimonio, la comunicación y la justicia y trabajar hacia la competencia intercultural en todas las áreas de la vida de la conferencia que incluye lo siguiente: Unidad Cristiana y Relaciones Interreligiosas, es Religión y Raza, el Estado y Papel de la Mujer, Comunicaciones, Inquietudes sobre Discapacidad y un Presidente; todos nominados por el Comité de Nominaciones y elegidos por la Conferencia Anual.

Vitalizing Congregations Vision Team (Standing Rules page 350 English; 358 Spanish)

There shall be a Vitalizing Congregations Vision Team whose function is to discern, develop and deploy resources pertinent to the fulfillment of the mission and purpose of the local church, and to support the restoring of vitality to the local church. The membership of the Vitalizing Congregations Vision Team shall include - specific responsibility to the following Discipleship, Congregational Development & Revitalization, Ethnic Local Church Concerns, Parish and Community Development, Small Membership Church New Church Development, Children’s Ministries, Older Adult Ministries, Hispanic/Latino Ministries, and a chairperson; all nominated by the Committee on Nominations and elected by the Annual Conference. Additional members shall be the presidents or designees of United Methodist Women, United Methodist Men, the Youth Ministries Council, and the Young Adult Ministry Council.

Habrá un Equipo de Visión de Congregaciones Vitalizantes cuya función es discernir, desarrollar y desplegar recursos pertinentes para el cumplimiento de la misión y el propósito de la iglesia local, y para apoyar la restauración de la vitalidad de la iglesia local. Developing Leaders Vision Team (Standing Rules page 351 English; 359 Spanish)

There shall be a Developing Leaders Vision Team whose function is to call and equip both lay and clergy leaders for the mission field, and to especially encourage younger leaders. The membership of the Developing Leaders Vision Team shall include specific responsibility to the following: Higher Education and Campus Ministry, and a chairperson; all nominated by the Committee on Nominations and elected by the Annual Conference. Additional members shall be the presidents or designees of United Methodist Women, United Methodist Men, the Youth Ministries Council, and the Young Adult Ministry Council; representatives from the Board of Ordained Ministry; the conference lay leader and district superintendent and district lay leaders. 

Equipo de Visión de Líderes en Desarrollo (Reglas Permanentes, página 351, inglés; 359, español)

Habrá un Equipo de Visión de Líderes en Desarrollo cuya función es llamar y equipar tanto a los líderes laicos como a los del clero para el campo misionero, y para alentar especialmente a los líderes más jóvenes. La membresía del Equipo de Visión de Líderes en Desarrollo incluirá la responsabilidad específica de lo siguiente: Educación Superior y Ministerio Universitario, y un presidente; todos nominados por el Comité de Nominaciones y elegidos por la Conferencia Anual. Transforming Communities Vision Team (Standing Rules page 352 English; 360 Spanish)

There shall be a Transforming Communities Vision Team whose function is to equip, educate and support congregations around the areas of mission and The Advance, specific ethnic concerns, and justice issues. The membership of the Transforming Communities Vision Team shall be made up of the following areas of responsibility and focus - Church and Society, Global Ministries, Native American Ministries, The Advance Program, Criminal Justice and Mercy Ministries, the Secretary of Global Ministries, and a chairperson; all nominated by the Committee on Nominations and elected by the Annual Conference. The Peace with Justice Coordinator shall also be a member.

Equipo de Visión de Comunidades Transformadoras (Reglas Permanentes, página 352, inglés; 360, español)

Habrá un Equipo de Visión de Comunidades Transformadoras cuya función es equipar, educar y apoyar a las congregaciones en torno a las áreas de misión y El Avance, preocupaciones étnicas específicas y asuntos de justicia. La membresía del Equipo de Visión de Comunidades Transformadoras estará compuesta por las siguientes áreas de responsabilidad y enfoque: Iglesia y Sociedad, Ministerios Globales, Ministerios de Nativos Americanos, El Programa Avance, Ministerios de Justicia Criminal y Misericordia, el Secretario de Ministerios Globales y un presidente, todos nominados por el Comité de Nominaciones y elegidos por la Conferencia Anual. El Coordinador de Paz con Justicia también será miembro.

ARCHIVES AND HISTORY TEAMS

Commission on Archives and History (Standing Rules page 353 English; 361 Spanish)

There shall be a Commission on Archives and History whose function is defined in ¶ 641 of the 2016 Book of Discipline (pg.485) The Commission on Archives and History relates to the General Commission on Archives and History and to the Uniting Table through the chairperson of the Administration Team.

Function – In each annual conference there shall be a conference commission on archives and history. The number of members of the commission and their terms of offices shall be as the conference may determine and may include an ex officio representative of each United Methodist heritage landmark in its bounds. The duty of this commission is to collect, preserve, and make accessible the historically significant records of the annual conference and its agencies, including data relating to the origin and history of the conference and its antecedents; to encourage and assist the local churches in preserving their records, compiling their histories, and celebrating their heritage; to provide for the permanent safekeeping of the historical recurs of all abandoned or discontinued churches in the bounds of the annual conference and it antecedents.  (To learn more, please refer to para. 641 2016 Book of Discipline, pg. 485)

Habrá una Comisión de Archivos e Historia cuya función se define en ¶ 641 del Libro de Disciplina 2016 (pg. 485) La Comisión de Archivos e Historia se relaciona con la Comisión General de Archivos e Historia y a la Mesa Unida a través de la Presidenta del Equipo de Administración.

Función: En cada conferencia anual habrá una Comisión de Archivos e Historia. El número de miembros de la comisión y sus mandatos serán los que determine la conferencia y pueden incluir un representante ex oficio de cada hito del patrimonio metodista unido en sus límites. El deber de esta comisión es recopilar, preservar y hacer accesibles los registros históricamente significativos de la conferencia anual y sus agencias, incluidos los datos relacionados con el origen y la historia de la conferencia y sus antecedentes; alentar y ayudar a las iglesias locales a preservar sus registros, compilar sus historias y celebrar su herencia; para proporcionar la custodia permanente de los recursos históricos de todas las iglesias abandonadas o descontinuadas dentro de los límites de la conferencia anual y sus antecedentes. Río Texas United Methodist Church Historical Society (RTUMHS) please note your interest will be included in the leadership pool. Inclusion in the Society is not an annual conference nominated or elected position.

Function - The Río  Texas United Methodist Historical Society is organized exclusively for charitable, religious, educational, or scientific purposes, including, for such purposes, the making of distributions to organizations that qualify as exempt organizations under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, or the corresponding section of any future federal tax code.

 The Society, which meets at least annually shall:

1.     Collect and preserve materials related to the history of the Río Texas Episcopal Area of the United Methodist Church and its antecedents.

2.     Promote research, writing, and publication in the field.

3.     Locate and support the preservation of appropriate sites of historical interest within the Episcopal Area.

4.     Develop interest in United Methodist history and skills for pursuing it among local church historians and others.

5.     Develop and promote observances of historical anniversaries and other events of interest.

6.     Engage in such other activities as shall be deemed proper.

Sociedad Histórica de la Iglesia Metodista Unida de Río Texas (RTUMHS) Tenga en cuenta que su interés será incluido en el grupo de liderazgo. La inclusión en la Sociedad no es una posición anual nominada o elegida por la conferencia.

 Función: La Sociedad Histórica Metodista Unida de Río Texas está organizada exclusivamente para fines caritativos, religiosos, educativos o científicos, incluyendo para tales fines la distribución a organizaciones que califican como organizaciones exentas bajo la sección 501 (c) (3) del Código de Rentas Internas, o la sección correspondiente de cualquier futuro federal código de impuestos.

 La Sociedad, que se reúne al menos anualmente deberá:

1.     Recopilar y conservar materiales relacionados con la historia del Área Episcopal Río Texas de la Iglesia Metodista Unida y sus antecedentes.

2.     Promover la investigación, redacción y publicación en el campo.

3.     Localizar y apoyar la preservación de sitios apropiados de interés histórico dentro del Área Episcopal.

4.     Desarrollar interés en la historia metodista unida y habilidades para seguirla entre los historiadores de la iglesia local y otros.

5.     Desarrollar y promover celebraciones de aniversarios históricos y otros eventos de interés.

6.     Participar en otras actividades que se consideren apropiadas.
