The Border Collaboration Network

  • Rio Texas Annual Conference United Methodist Church 16400 Huebner Road San Antonio, TX, 78248 United States (map)

The webinar will explore environmental migration as a potential method of adaptation. Alexandra Villarreal, Senior Policy & Advocacy Associate with the National Immigration Forum will explain environmental migration as a phenomenon, focused on some of the nuances that make weather- and climate-related forces complicated yet influential factors in the decision to move. Then, she will consider existing international mechanisms and U.S. laws that could potentially relate to environmental migration. Finally, she will offer recommendations on how the U.S. could effectively respond to environmental migration in the 21st century — and how everyday citizens can make a meaningful difference today.

2024 Webinar Remaining Dates: November 19

This monthly webinar seeks to connect persons, ministries, and organizations actively supporting asylum-seeking migrants and refugees. Webinar topics have emphasis on evolving humanitarian responses in the areas of hospitality and housing, accompaniment and sponsorship, legal services and policies, and advocacy.
