For Delegates- Concerning the Postponed 2020 Annual Conference session
/Dear Rio Texas Conference Delegates:
Ministry through the churches and people of the Rio Texas Conference continues to be impactful, creative, show flexibility and persistence in meeting the spiritual, physical, social, and emotional needs of the people in your communities and congregations. In mid-August, Bishop Schnase, through the Rio Texas Conference webpage, will be providing the call and stated business for the one-day session of the Postponed 2020 Annual Conference Session to be held on October 3, 2020. At that time, you will receive specific information about registration and a general agenda for the event.
Bishop Schnase and the Annual Conference Leadership Design Team continue to discuss the best ways to prepare for a one-day session of a Postponed 2020 Annual Conference session to accomplish the needed business of the Conference. With the current surge in COVID-19 cases within the Conference bounds and particularly in Bexar County we are preparing with the following expectations of the Postponed 2020 Annual Conference:
It will be a hybrid event with a few of the leaders together in a socially distanced manner leading an electronic event;
There will be no gathering of the delegates of the Rio Texas Annual Conference at the event;
There will be no child care available;
We will be following processes for conducting this Postponed 2020 Annual Conference that have been successfully utilized by other Annual Conferences throughout the United Methodist Church;
We will have worship for Retirements, Remembrance of the Deceased, and Ordination and Commissioning;
There will be a section of the Rio Texas Conference webpage dedicated to videos, reports and the Pre-Conference Report
May you continue to be empowered by the Holy Spirit as you proclaim in imaginative ways the Good News of Jesus Christ.
Blessings in Christ,
Bishop Robert Schnase
Resident Bishop
